Although wholemeal bread is higher in fibre than white bread, in the U.K. It is a legal requirement that bread maker’s fortify the white flour used in white bread with certain vitamins and minerals lost during the processing.
But the most important thing to remember is whether you eat wholemeal or white bread, bread is a nutritious food that should be a staple component of your diet. It’s low in calories, fat and a good source of fibre and many vitamins and minerals. It’s what you put on it that can make it unhealthy!
