Is a calorie just a calorie?
Making sure you don’t go over your maximum recommended daily calorie limit is a good way of making sure you don’t put on weight.
But if you want your diet to provide all the vitamins minerals and macronutrients that you need to stay healthy you need to think about more than calories when you are choosing your food.
This is because two foods with exactly the same calorie content can have completely different nutrient profiles and totally different effects on your body.
For example drinking 80 calories of milk will provide you with Vit A, Calcium, iodine , and protein. Whereas drinking 80 calories of Coca-Cola will only provide 20g of sugar.
